Odsonne Edouard returned to the Celtic starting XI yesterday and it took just three minutes for him to find the net. The Frenchman cooly dispatched a penalty, just as he did twice for France U21 during the international break.
Interest in the striker was expected after his outstanding season last term, and that was only heightened when he bagged a hat-trick on the opening day of the SPFL season against Hamilton Accies.
French Eddy has also scored at a rate of 1.73 goals per game for France U21s, which is not only mind blowing, but bound to draw attention from other clubs.
Several English Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, including Arsenal who were rumoured to have offered £15m and then £22m last week. However, Lennon told the Daily Record:
“That’s the nature of the window but it’s not at the forefront of my mind. We have lots of games to play and we want all the players here. The club will do everything in their power to make sure that happens. I’m not aware of interest in Odsonne – it’s all just speculation. We want to keep him here. We know what a talent he is but also how important this season is for the club and the supporters.”
