Celtic-linked striker Adam Idah was booed onto the park today during Norwich’s defeat to St Pauli. He was the only player not to applaud the supporters post-match, opting to head straight down the tunnel after the 3-1 loss.

Idah was named on the bench for his team’s final pre-season game, with Josh Sargent taking the starting spot over the Irishman. He was subbed on in the 67th minute but couldn’t do much to help his team, with the opponents already having a two-goal advantage.

Some Norwich supporters argued that the limited game time given to Idah was an “insult to his ability” whilst others are calling for his head following the lacklustre performance.

Last week, there was speculation in the media that the deal for Celtic to sign Idah permanently would be complete in time for flag day. Unfortunately, this wasn’t true, with no promising movement being made in the deal.

Celtic bid £4.5m for the striker but reports say that Norwich may value him as high as £11m. There is still a chance that a deal around the £6m mark may be enough to convince the English Championship side, but Celtic have yet to make an offer of that value.

Supporters of the Scottish champions are now calling for the club to make a ‘take it or leave it’ offer for Idah. Fans are in agreement that the Celts have spent far too much time trying to secure his services for the season, especially when there would be other options available, some even being from the same league.

With only three players through the door, including two goalkeepers, in time for their opener against Kilmarnock, this has certainly been a lacklustre transfer window for Celtic so far but the window doesn’t close until the end of the month and by that time Adam Idah will hopefully be a Celtic player.
