Norwich Sporting Director reiterates desire to keep Adam Idah

Norwich City Sporting Director Ben Knapper has said that the Championship side are keen to retain Adam Idah. Celtic have launched a £6m bid for the Irishman as they look to bring him back to the club after a successful loan in the second half of last year.

At a meeting with fans, Knapper admitted that he is keen that Norwich retain the striker despite the heavy links to Celtic.

“He’s a fantastic player, and in winter he had one of the best goals per minute ratios in Europe. He’s a proven goalscorer at Championship level and did very well at Celtic.

“He’s a full international who’s home grown and has come through the system. He’s exactly the type of player who excites me.”

Celtic have reportedly bid £6m plus add-ons for the player with Idah keen to make the return. The comments from Norwich’s Sporting Director could be a process of hardball from the EFL side as they try and drive a hard bargain.

The 23-year-old scored 9 goals and assisted once in 19 appearances and most of these came from the bench. The striker scored some big goals as Celtic won a League & Cup Double and the manager made it clear that he was a priority this summer. If the player’s social media is anything to go by, he is also keen on a deal being done.

  1. Not entirely surprised for Norwich to start acting the bollocks over a potential deal for idah?
Our big mistake was not getting the buy in clause inserted into the deal in the first place?
But wouldn’t be to hard on those involved as no-one really expected idah to be as big as a hit for ourselves as he turned out to be either imo?
Regardless can Norwich really expect to keep hold of him now?
Especially when they as good as ran him out of the club in the first place?
Do they really expect idah to give him his all now, especially if a move to ourselves was to fall through?
A new manager won’t want to be stuck with an unhappy player either, even moreso when just walking into the job also?
And we only know to well what we got along with the lost revenue upon keeping hold of eddy when he wanted to go also?
So that eejit may be feeding a bunch of canaries some bird seed, but certainly we won’t be entertaining such bullshit for sure?
Norwich haven’t and never will be able to offer a career opportunity even close to what we can provide for idah, simple as that?
Sort out a decent enough sell on clauses and add ons and just finalise the deal ffs?
Sounds as if it would be easier trying to deal with tweety pie by the sounds of things?

  2. He is a Norwich player with a long contract which he was more than happy to sign not that long ago. He was not run out of the club. He asked to go on loan because he felt Wagner did not really want to use him. Wagner has gone. We have a new manager who wants to have a proper look at him. Six to eight million is hardly playing hard ball in this day and age, particularly for an international forward of his youth. If he stays at Norwich and thrives and scores plenty he could easily get himself a move to a PL club next year. Sorry, but if you want him, pay what he is worth.

  3. Would you want Celtic to sell players without getting best price. We rejoice when Celtic get top money why should other clubs be different. It drags out bit longer because board don’t like paying asking price.

  4. Im just completly pissed off with this penny pinching bunch of wankers running our club. John Keane had no problem putting his own hand in his own pocket, liewell & co we are watching.hh
