Lee O’Connor has joined Partick Thistle on loan until the end of the season.

Celtic have confirmed that the 19-year-old will join the Firhill team in order to gain some experience which the club hope will aid him in his push for a breakthrough at Celtic.

Ian McCall’s Championship strugglers will allow O’Connor the chance to develop his skills in the second half of the season as he looks to force himself into Neil Lennon’s reckoning.

Despite being highly rated at Celtic Park, O’Connor has failed to make the breakthrough that he had hoped for, whilst Jeremie Frimpong – who signed on the same day in 2019 – became a regular around the first team.

Despite being yet to make his Celtic debut, O’Connor made his Ireland debut in a 3-1 win over New Zealand in November and has been captaining the Celtic reserve side in recent weeks.

Hopefully the move will be productive for all parties as McCall’s team aim to push up the table.
