Oh Bhoy as Steven McLean given Whistle for Dead Rubber Glasgow Derby

Steven McLean will referee Saturday’s Dead Rubber Glasgow Derby at Ibrox as James Tavernier gets set to provide a Guard of Honour for the newly Crowned Scottish Champions who secured an Eleventh Title Win in Twelve Seasons at the weekend with a 2-0 win against Hearts at Tynecastle.

The Scottish FA this morning announced via their official website the officials for this this weekend’s matches and have handed the whistle to McLean. He will be assisted by David Roome and Jonathan Bell,  with the stand-in Scottish cup semi-final referee Don Robertson being confirmed as the Fourth Official.

Meanwhile Greg Aitken is on VAR duty with David McGeachie assisting.

Celtic have beaten theRangers four times this season with one match ending in a draw.  Two of the Celtic victories came at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership – 4-0 last September and 3-2 last month and the other two at Hampden – 2-1 in the League Cup Final in February and 1-0 in the recent Scottish Cup semi-final.  The draw came at Ibrox on 2 January in a match that Mick Beale’s side simply had to win – it ended 2-2 with Kyogo scoring late on the secure a point for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Talking of Kyogo, he is an injury doubt for the weekend and as it’s a Dead Rubber Glasgow derby, it would make sense to give him some time to recover from his on-going shoulder injury re-occurring at the weekend while scoring the goal that set Celtic on our way to securing the title.  Giving Oh a chance to start against them will be well worth watching!

Saturday’s Dead Rubber Glasgow derby kicks-off at 12.30pm and is live on Sky Sports. No Celtic supporters will be at the game due to over celebrations concerns at the club who simply have to accept that they are second best.
