With rumours of his probable departure in the now-open transfer window, Oh Hyeon-gyu has DELETED all of his Celtic-related Instagram posts. He may have also hinted towards his departure on his social media story.
In a story this morning, Oh wrote: “Next one…”
This comes shortly after Oh removed Celtic posts from his Instagram account. The only remaining mention of the club is in his bio, which still has the club he is contracted to tagged.
It seems like Oh will be one of the first players to leave the club as KRC Genk have reportedly agreed personal terms with the striker and are in discussion with the Celts over a £4.2m fee.
With us having paid only £2.5m to secure Oh’s services in the first place, we’d be making a profit. He has shown moments of great potential in the Hoops though so Brendan Rodgers may be left wondering if selling him is the right option or if a loan deal would be better in the long run.
He has scored 12 goals in 47 games, which isn’t bad when you think about how many of those were late-second-half substitute appearances.
I’ve always been a fan of Oh, despite him not having kicked on. I think that a season-long loan would certainly be the better option as it would give us the chance to fully evaluate the striker, but if the option is there to make profit on a fringe player, then I think Celtic will end up taking it.
And if he does go, then I have no doubt he’ll kick on in Belgium!
