Celtic are not set to terminate Oliver Abildgaard’s loan, according to a report. The 26-year-old has managed just 156 minutes of first-team action since arriving from Rubin Kazan on a loan deal in the summer and was an unused substitute against Hibernian during the week.

A report from Football Transfers claims that the reports from Russia were wide of the mark and that Ange is not ready to send the defensive midfielder back to Rubin Kazan. The player joined the Scottish Champions on a season-long loan.

The former Aalborg midfielder moved to Russia in 2020 on a loan deal before making the move permanent later that year. Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Abildgaard had been keen to get his deal ripped up. Celtic have an option to buy but given the player’s limited game time this season, you would imagine that he is unlikely to be retained next season unless there is a drastic change to his game time at Celtic.
