JAMES FORREST has as expected signed a contract extension at Celtic. The new deal will be signed today and will see The Celtic Star’s Player of the Year stay at Celtic until at least the summer of 2023, according to a report in Scottish Sun.

Forrest, who has been a regular starter in the Celtic side for a decade, has never hidden his wish to remain at Celtic for his entire playing career. He’s been around Celtic for most of his life and this new deal will see him remain at the club until he turns 32.

And in a remarkable Celtic career to date Jamesy has won 8 consecutive league winners medals, 5 Scottish Cup winners medals and played in 4 League Cup wins. Back in 2010 he also helped Celtic win the U19 Premier League and the Scottish Youth Cup.

Last season he was voted The Celtic Star’s Player of the Year by thousands of our readers. He also won Celtic’s Player of the Year and the various other Player of the Year Awards, including Football Writers and the Scottish PFA awards.

In season 2011-12 he also won the Young Player of the Year awards from both the PFA and the SFWA.

One of the other notable achievements happened last autumn when he scored 5 goals in 2 games over 4 days for Scotland against Albania and Israel to secure the national side a Play-off spot for the Euros vie the UEFA League Nations Cup.

Forrest, as we keep saying, still hasn’t got his own song – surely this needs to be addressed asap?
