On This Day: Celtic win at Pittodrie, big result for 9IAR

On This Day in 2020, Celtic won a hard-fought game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie which would prove crucial in the 9IAR success later that year. Neil Lennon took his side to compete against Derek McInnes’ Dons in hostile conditions but were able to find a way to win.

A first half goal from Callum McGregor pulled Celtic ahead on a really tough day for football but Aberdeen dragged themselves level as Ash Taylor found himself free at the back post to smash the ball beyond Fraser Forster.

It was more of the same in the second half as the wind swirled around the North East, Celtic toiled and should have been ahead through Jonny Hayes – who replaced Greg Taylor in the first half – but his shot was well saved by Joe Lewis.

Neil Lennon’s three substitutes were involved as Celtic managed to carve an opening thanks to brilliant play from Odsonne Edouard, Callum McGregor and James Forrest, the latter finding makeshift right-back Kris Ajer at the edge of the box, who’s deft finish put the Hoops 2-1 ahead.
