On This Day in 2014, Ronny Deila took his Celtic side to face Hearts at Tynecastle. In what has always been a formidable venue to visit, the Championship side were a tough opponent in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Cup.

Hearts, who would go onto win the Championship that season, were impacted heavily by an early red card with Gomes being shown a red by Willie Collum. The midfielder launched into a wild two footed tackle on Celtic skipper Scott Brown. The only goal of the half came from Virgil Van Dijk. The Dutch defender finished smartly from a Tony Stokes cross.

Ex-Rangers keeper Neil Alexander kept Celtic at bay but the second half saw goals from John Guidetti, Stokes and Van Dijk in the space of fifteen minutes to empty the home end and to send the away end into wild celebrations.

Celtic were in control throughout this game and it showed the way that Ronny Deila was wanting his team to play. The win would take the Celts into the Fifth Round of the Scottish Cup as they looked to complete a Treble.

Celtic: Gordon; Matthews, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Bitton; Forrest (Tonev 57′), Johansen (Commons 67′), Stokes (Griffiths 67′); Guidetti.
