Opinion – Green Brigade, Celtic and a Common Sense Resolution

I am very disappointed at the lack of common sense by both parties. Some of the issues are crystal clear such as the fact that Pyrotechnics at football ground are unhealthy, potentially dangerous and illegal and should therefore be banned BY the group themselves.

Does anyone seriously think that thick, coloured smoke enhances our enjoyment while watching a game?

The Green Brigade itself brings so much life to the atmosphere of our games and is a welcome part of the matchday experience and should be encouraged, though not at the cost of diminishing the Celtic supporters’ good reputation.

Dialogue by the Green Brigade and representatives from the club should be the next priority and a consideration given to the fact that, as charitable donations are important to both parties, a shocking amount of money has been squandered in fines paid in recent years by the club to UEFA.

If agreement could be reached that a trouble (and UEFA fines) free season could be achieved, a commitment by both parties to donate a fixed amount to their appropriate charities, possibly on an ongoing basis, could be viable after each fine-free season.

When you think about it, it probably sounds like too much common sense after all.

Some wise words from Michael.

Earlier today we published details of a possible solution to this problem that is at least worthy of consideration by both Celtic and the Green Brigade.

Many of you might have missed this article as it was published when the focus was very much on today’s AGM. However please have a read at this article titled Aussie Rules and a possible solution to Celtic’s Green Brigade Pyro Problem which you can view HERE.
