Kyogo Furuhashi has taken Scottish football by storm. The Japanese striker has found the net nine times in 13 games, including four goals from six Europa League appearances. Quite simply, he is a sensational player.

Kyogo is far from the finished article yet. He has taken the next step in his career, advancing beyond Japanese football to send shockwaves around Europe. His work rate, first touch and movement are outstanding. And whilst his finishing is evidently not bad, he can still improve in that area. In short, his Celtic career is just getting going. It is nowhere near the end.

I have no doubt that Kyogo will eventually move on to a club with lots of money. It is likely that club will ply its trade in the English Premier League and he will overcome all the patronising talk of whether he can handle playing with the big boys such as Watford, Burnley and Norwich rather than scoring goals at an alarming rate in European competition.

When that time comes, the fee will be substantial. However, that time is not now. It is not a few months into his life at Parkhead. I expect that we have at least another year of watching Kyogo destroy defences and blossom under Postecoglou’s tutelage.

The talk about the Japanese star leaving is clickbait nonsense, motivated by a desire to bring negativity to Celtic Football Club.

The Hoops are performing well, keeping apace in the challenge for the title and improving with each game. Postecoglou has a strong team at his disposal again and the Celtic faithful have reason to be excited. Kyogo Furuhashi is a big part of that excitement. His goalscoring exploits and the way in which he makes the team tick are there for all to see. So what better angle for an anti-Celtic journalist to take than to start using terms such as ‘lack of ambition’ and talking up a January exit? They might even get a few clicks from our own fanbase too.

Some of the Celtic message boards have been fearful of interest from Southampton. A few fans have been panicked. Don’t fall for this negative nonsense. Kyogo will be here at the end of the season, and hopefully the league trophy will join him.
