Kyogo received a hugely emotional ‘welcome back reception at his former club Vissel Kobe earlier today ahead of the J-League visit from Urawa Reds at the Noevir Stadium. The game ended in disappointment for Kyogo’s old club who lost out to a last minute winner from Urawa Reds.
The home support unveiled a banner in tribute to the Celtic star which simply read ‘Our Hero Kyogo’ as the Japan international striker spoke to the fans ahead of kick-off. Kyogo scored 50 goals for Vissel Kobe before moving to Celtic last summer, were he established himself as a fans favourite as he helped Celtic to win a Scottish Premiership and League Cup double.
No doubt the Vissel Kobe supporters were left wishing that Kyogo was still their player as the current crop failed to find the target in what would have been a hugely frustrating afternoon.
