COVE RANGERS confirmed the signing of Celtic’s Ryan Mullen yesterday and the former Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley, who manages the League One club, raved about the capture of the goalkeeper. Mullen signed a new deal at Celtic last year and is highly rated within the club so the signing is a coup by Harley’s side.

Hartley told the Cove website that the signing of Mullen can push the youngsters career on and potentially force himself into the Celtic picture.
“We are grateful to Celtic for giving us the opportunity to work with Ryan. He is one of the most talented young Scottish goalkeepers in the game and joining us gives him the chance to push his career on a bit.
“It will be good for us to have Ryan competing with Stuart McKenzie for a starting place. Ryan will also benefit from working alongside Stuart and our new goalkeeping coach Alan Combe.”
“We are very happy to get Ryan on board as we continue our build-up to the new season.”
The 19-year-old has turned out for Scotland’s U19 and U17 sides and has been a feature in the Celtic Development side in the last season. A move will allow him to get first team football and learn from a top coach in Hartley.
Hartley signed for Celtic for £1m from Hearts in 2007 and won two league titles, one league cup and one Scottish Cup during his time with his boyhood club.
