Paulo Bernardo has reacted to the long coming news that he has returned to Celtic. The Portuguese midfielder signed on a five year deal after a successful loan spell last season.

Celtic had an option to buy the player but decided to negotiate the deal with Benfica and secured his signing for £3.4m.

Taking to Instagram, Bernardo said “Feels really good to be back”, attached to a photo of the player in the Celtic Park Boardroom.

Bernardo scored four times and assisted three times in thirty three appearances for Celtic last season and proved himself to be an important first team player. The manager initially utilised Bernardo in Champions League games before he grew into a more prominent first team player in all competitions.

Bernardo provided some brilliant moments – namely his goal against Rangers at the turn of the year and then the assist in the Scottish Cup Final. It was clear that the manager saw promise in Bernardo and the fact that the club are bringing him back confirms that.

Now Celtic need to get other players in the door that can improve the squad.
