BRENDAN RODGERS was well satisfied with his side’s Five Star Performance against Hearts this afternoon. Let’s be clear, the 5-0 thrashing flattered the visitors who were thrashed by this stunning goal machine of a side Rodgers has developed. And the bad news for the rest of the League is that this is only the beginning.
Speaking immediately after the game the Celtic manager didn’t try to hide his delight.
“It was a great victory for us in terms of a win and performance. It was fantastic,” Brendan said.
“The game today and this week showed the level the players have been at domestically over the last two and a half years.
“To keep coming back and having that hunger against a good Hearts team was excellent. We were really aggressive in our defending and could have had a few more. It was an outstanding team performance.
“We never rely on one player. All the goals were very good. It’s a very collective effort. Tom Rogic and Ryan Christie I thought were outstanding today, especially how they denied space for the opposition. Collectively, as a team, it was excellent,” the Celtic manager said.
“It’s still early but it was a joy to watch the team and see their qualities. People will look at us and know our capabilities.”
On the disgraceful challenge on substitute Lewis Morgan in the closing stages, Rodgers was less than pleased.
“it was a sore one, he’ll need ice on it and hopefully be ok by the beginning of the week.”
