Pep Guardiola admits there will be no Man City summer signings amid Kyogo links

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that there will be no more signings this summer, unless something changes. The Spaniard made the comments in his media conference ahead of their game tomorrow against newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

The Premier League Champions have been linked with a move for Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic but this update appears to suggest that whilst they are interested in the player, they may not make a move.

Celtic will likely breathe a sigh of relief as the lure from City would likely have been too much for Kyogo to turn down. The Scottish Champions value the 29-year-old at £20m but his value is too great to replace at this stage in the window.

Guardiola can be somewhat mischievous in his comments but given that Kyogo trained at Lennoxtown today, it appears that he’ll be staying put for the time being. It is no coincidence that Kyogo switched to CAA Base Agency and speculation emerged regarding a move. You wouldn’t be surprised if someone else in the Premier League, like Spurs, were to come into the reckoning for the game.

Celtic are focusing on their incomings rather than allowing first team players to depart.

  1. Not that much of a surprise really, as always felt it was pie in the sky more than a reality in the making imo?
It doesn’t take away the ongoing O’riley situation, along with potentially finding ourselves in a similar position regarding a few players again next summer?
So we should hopefully be far better prepared for such occurances potentially happening year on year?
That requires more strength in depth to have been found and added this summer?
But we continue to persist with trying to make such hard work, for trying to put a simple enough plan actually into operation at present?
Maybe such a plan is in operation within the background at present, but little confidence at to suggest it is at present?
To have striker options of kyogo, idah and Maeda available within a CL squad is something to be very content with, in our squad?
The lack of potential quality in creating such changes for a striker is an ongoing concern at present?
Starting to look like we may well be hoping to go into yet another CL campaign, worried about having key players available for big games?
Yet we haven’t managed to do so for the last few campaigns with injuries having a massive impact upon ourselves, yet the same potential issue remains intact within our incomplete squad at present?
Number of positions have got adequate cover in place already, yet to many haven’t at present, and has been the case for ourselves before this window actually did open?
A massive week ahead for ourselves, and hardly the greatest situation that we find ourselves going into the 1st Glasgow Derby of the season, especially when we shouldn’t even be in such a position imo?
Currently looking at 3 potential players to be added to make up a homegrown quota at present, is just 1 of a number of embarrassing situations we find ourselves currently in, when trying to finalise a 25man squad?
Couldn’t care less about the blame game attached to the current situation, just expected it all to have been resolved in a far better manner than what has currently been on show within the whole process involved?
