SCOTT BAIN saved Kevin Nisbet’s penalty to keep it at 0-0 but was let down when he got back up only to see Jamie Murphy free to knock the ball into the net and give Hibs a 1-0 lead. The penalty was very poor from Scott Brown, Martin Boyle was clever and Brown unwittingly gave Bobby Madden a decision to make and the whistleblower got it right.
Bain got down to his right and saved smartly but Murphy was allowed to ghost into the box sparking disagreements between the Celtic players. Jeremie Frimpong and Nir Bitton were stood at the edge of the box, hands on hips almost expecting to see the ball go into the net. Then were caught on their heels as Murphy scored, prompting a few shouts from their Celtic teammates.
The goal emphasises how far the standards have dropped in recent years following the departure of Brendan Rodgers. The Irishman told players to follow the ball into the box, often from deep runs meaning they would be some of the first into the box.
One thing that is certain is that the standards need to be rectified back to the standards expected by Rodgers. However, a decision needs to be made soon so that the players have some more clarity on the situation – especially with Rangers 11 points clear.
