Ben Davies has completed his move to English Champions Liverpool after snubbing a pre-contract offer from Celtic. The 25-year-old has swapped the Championship for Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League winners from last season. Davies had been expected to sign a pre-contract with Celtic but a deal never materialised allowing Liverpool to nip in and sign him.

It is another surprising yet expected calamity from the club this season as they could have paid a small fee to sign the player earlier in the window but instead decided to let it run down before making a move.

You can’t blame the player for wanting to make the short trip from Preston to Merseyside, especially given the current struggles at Celtic. It just highlights how much more work will be required at Celtic this year and how essential it is that there is a managerial change.
