The Celtic supporters that were fortunate enough to have a ticket for this afternoon’s game at Easter Road unveiled a poignant banner before kickoff. After weeks of unrest in England and N Ireland, where dangerous flames of division have been stoked, the Celtic support put out a timely reminder of the club’s heritage.
Over the advertising boards, the Celtic support unfurled a ‘Created by Immigrants’ banner to reject the hateful rhetoric that has ramped up on social media culminating in riots.

As valuable as it is to welcome immigrants and refugees to a country that needs to address the demographic of an ageing population, banner signalling is so frequent that it loses it’s potency and encourages indifference.
