Today’s photo of the day dates back to 4 December 1982, an afternoon when Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 at Hampden Park to lift the Scottish League Cup trophy. It was the club’s first League Cup triumph since 1974 and the only League Cup silverware that Danny McGrain lifted as captain.
First half goals from Charlie Nicholas and Murdo MacLeod gave Celtic a 2-0 lead, before Bett made things close after the break.
Ultimately, Celtic prevailed and the fans enjoyed the victory by setting off smoke bombs on the uncovered, rain soaked terrace at the King’s Park end.
