Today’s photo of the day takes us back to Celtic’s most recent adventure in the UEFA Champions League.

Season 2017/18 will always be remembered as the campaign that secured the Double Treble, only half of the consecutive string of trebles we would amass, but it was also the club’s latest excursion across the continent at the top level.

Brendan Rodgers’ team competed well against Bayern Munich at home, defeated Anderlecht away, but were thrashed on both occasions against PSG. A disappointing loss at home to Anderlecht didn’t prevent the Hoops from taking third spot in the group, courtesy of head to head superiority, while the team were also comfortably beaten in Germany.

As ever, the supporters stole the show throughout Celtic’s time in the competition. The German media waxed lyrical about the atmosphere at Paradise, which almost roared the Hoops on to victory, and the enormous travelling support won praise from the authorities in Munich. It was yet another special atmosphere.

The result was disappointing, but what a spectacle for thousands of Celtic supporters to travel to one of the giants of European football and watch the Bhoys play on such a stage. It is the level at which a club our size belongs.
