Photo Of The Day: All The Twos Against Real Madrid

The return of the photo of the day, after a long hiatus, whets the appetite for the slightly longer awaited return of Real Madrid to Celtic Park.

The Spanish giants come to Paradise hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2-0 scoreline they were on the wrong end of back in 1980, during the first leg of the European Cup quarter final. Goals on that evening came from George McCluskey and Johnny Doyle as the Hoops sent shockwaves around Europe.

And sticking with the two theme; tickets on both the East and West terracing of the stadium were just £2!

  1. My first big European home game and i was 14 and being in the jungle that night was incredible. In those days even though we weren’t anywhere near the level of the lions we definitely held our own at Celtic park and hopefully Ange will bring those days back.

    • We had a resurgence of that home European form under O’Neill and Strachan too. Would be great to see again. I have heard the atmosphere against Madrid was unreal

  2. Eugene McElhinney on

I remember seeing both goals from the Rangers end. Slightly further down the terracing to my right was a certain Joe Jordan
