Today’s photo of the day shows Bobby Murdoch celebrating one of his 100-odd goals for Celtic in front of the Jungle. Note the presence of the Irish tricolour flying high on the mast over the famous old terracing. It was presented to the club by Eamon De Valera and the SFA infamously attempted to force Celtic to remove it from the stadium in the early 1950s.

Murdoch is one of the greatest ever Celts and was an incredible midfielder. A Lisbon Lion, he averaged more than a goal in every five games from centre midfield, and will forever be remembered as a club legend.
