Today marks 18 years since 80,000 Celtic supporters invaded Seville as their beloved team played against Porto in the UEFA Cup Final. As we all know, the result didn’t go our way, despite a valiant effort and two world class headed goals by Henrik Larsson. The only award the club came away with was the FIFA Fair Play Award for the “exemplary and sporting” behaviour of the fans. No arrests were made despite drinking the city dry and suffering heartbreaking defeat.

The Celtic support showed itself to be up with the best in the world in terms of atmosphere, colour and the sheer numbers willing to travel abroad for the match (most without tickets).

We can be proud of the team and support that season.

Wonderful memories, albeit bittersweet.
