Photo Of The Day: Chris Sutton Holds Aloft The Scottish Cup

Today’s photo of the day rewinds to May 2005, when Celtic beat Dundee United 1-0 in the Scottish Cup final. The match was Martin O’Neill’s last as Celtic manager, but what would normally be a joyous occasion was somewhat flat because of the events at Fir Park a week earlier, which need no further mention.

Sutton was a cracking player for the club and remains popular with the Celtic support through his punditry and wind ups directed at fans of the club playing from Ibrox. Ironically, he missed a penalty on the wet afternoon at Hampden. Nevertheless, he prevailed as a winner – as he so often did in the Hoops.
