The covid season was one to forget for all Celtic fans, for obvious reasons. So, I’ll spare you the details of that awful period of football behind closed doors. Nevertheless, today’s photo of the day revisits one fleeting moment of joy in the campaign when David Turnbull found the net with a beautiful free kick against Hibernian. The goal salvaged a point for the Hoops.

Turnbull was on fire that year and continued to be a regularly selected player in the first five months of Ange Postecoglou’s reign. However, since being injured in the League Cup Final, also against Hibs, he has never recovered a regular starting spot. That is largely due to Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley being signed in the interim, before Aaron Mooy joined the club to add even more competition in the centre of the park.

Let’s hope a much more full Celtic Park sees strikes like this against Hibs once more, on Saturday.
