Today’s photo of the day is a random rewind to 1973, the day when Celtic celebrated winning eight league titles in a row with victory at Easter Road on the final day.

An estimated 40,000 Celtic fans were in Edinburgh for the game, joined by just over 5,000 home supporters!

The Hoops took the lead through Dixie Deans in the 22nd minute, but Hibs made Celtic work for the title by providing strong resistance until Dalglish grabbed a second in the last quarter. With a two goal cushion calming the nerves, the party got underway and Deans rounded off the scoring with another goal before full time.

A 3-0 win was enough to fend off Rangers’ title challenge and the Celtic fans belted out “Eight in a row – Eight in a row, Hello! – Hello!”

And for those who missed this one on The Celtic Star, here’s a catch-up chance to check out the photographs given to this site by the former Celtic Director Tom Grant of the demolition of the old Celtic Park and in its place the emergence of the New Celtic Park which we know and love today. These photographs are fascinating and well worth checking out on the link below…
