WWII was a miserable period for Celtic Football Club, but an eventful time at the club nonetheless. There were one or two highs alongside numerous lows, players lost to the War and our fans witnessed Rangers lift everything but a rifle.

Nevertheless, this cracking image was found in the archives of the Daily Record from April 1940. It depicts Johnny Crum having a shot blocked at Celtic Park against Rangers on 6 April 1940. Celtic were on top and played extremely well, but poor finishing from the forwards led to a 2-1 defeat. This was typical of that season.
