Photo Of The Day: Maeda Madness

Today’s photo of the day shows Daizen Maeda in the crowd as he celebrates Celtic going 2-0 ahead against theRangers in the first half of last weekend’s Glasgow Derby.

The Japanese winger played a huge part in the goal, producing an outstanding first touch to receive a delightful long pass from Carter Vickers. Maeda then showed his pace to earn room for the cross, before Lundstrum comically turned the ball into his own net.

Euphoria enveloped the ground and Daizen got caught up in the excitement by sprinting into the crowd.

The winger was booked for his celebration and later explained on social media that he wasn’t aware that going into the crowd was worthy of a yellow card!

I’ve ayeways been very critical of Maeda, but credit where it’s due, he did play well again against them. His touch was better, he was direct and played a couple of decent crosses in .. that’s all I ever wanted him tae do, nothing too difficult, just his attacking job as well as his defending.

I’m hopin that the reception he got when he returned fae injury will see him have greater confidence in himself and that he plays with attacking quality as well as his obvious trackin back/ closing down/ defensive qualities.

    Long may it continue.
