Celtic were recently paired with FC Midtylland in the Champions League qualifiers, a tough draw which prompted many fans to discuss the connection with Erik Sviatchenko. Erik was a fine Celtic player and an Invincible treble winner of course. However, there is another Celtic connection with the Danish club, albeit a much less successful one. Indeed, Morten Rasmussen took the same route as Sviatchenko, from Paradise to the MCH Arena, in 2012.

Today’s photo of the day explores that connection as Rasmussen is shown in his Celtic kit, shortly after signing for the club in January 2010.

It didn’t work out for the striker in Glasgow, and the most notable part of his Celtic career was probably when he was asked to play in goal during a loan spell with Sivasspor. Although, he did score a late winner against Hibernian during what was effectively a dead rubber SPL game.

Rasmussen enjoyed much greater fortunes in Denmark as a Midtylland fan pointed out online.

He now works as an attacking coach with the club.
