Today’s photo of the day is more an image of photographic excellence than an important moment in Celtic’s history. The chosen photo shows Thomas “Mad Dog” Gravesen celebrating a goal at Paradise with heavy rainfall surrounding him.

Gravesen signed for Celtic from Real Madrid, but didn’t hit the heights expected of such a top class professional. He made 23 appearances for the Hoops in 2006/07, scoring six goals. Despite being an erratic performer, he did play in the historic victory over Manchester United at Celtic Park and scored a goal at Ibrox in a 1-1 draw.

Tommy went on loan to Everton and then settled on a £1m pay-off, before retiring from the game in 2009. He was a mental character, who was loved for his insanity. Meanwhile, Gravesen has been living a life of luxury since leaving football behind. He invested his money wisely, reportedly earning £82m in shares, whilst he is now a professional poker player in Las Vegas and is ranked among the top three players in the world at the video game Call of Duty!
