Today’s photo of the day is unusual in the sense that is is an album cover! This is inspired by the atmosphere in many of Glasgow’s Irish/Celtic FC themed bars this evening, which continues to be electric despite the disappointing result at Ibrox this afternoon.
Celtic is one of few select clubs worldwide in that regard. Indeed, we have the opportunity to take small comforts, which fans of most teams don’t have, on days like today due to everything that encompasses our club off the pitch. Namely, our music, culture and heritage. Our stories in song, passed down the generations from the first Irish immigrants to the Glasgow Irish today.
Such a musical tradition means that we have songs about our people’s history, and also many songs about the triumphs and tragedies of Celtic Football Club too.

Songs for the Bhoys was an album by Derek Warfield which captured exactly that. A 2CD set, his collection celebrated the entwined history of Ireland and Celtic FC.
Though we all want success on the park, there is always something unique to enjoy about being a Celtic fan on days like today. And there’s no sign of the bands stopping any time soon!
Some of our best nights out were after a defeat. HH
Yes, I’m not one to say ‘oh well the score doesn’t matter’. It certainly does, but once the game is over nothing can be done. So, we’re fortunate to have such a great culture and so many songs, to accompany the pints and still have a great time!
