New Celtic signing Tomoki Iwata has now left Japan and is on a flight as he makes the journey to Scotland to join up with his new Celtic team-mates.

“It seems that Tomoki Iwata left Japan for Scotland according to information from his agency. Have a nice flight, Tomoki. To Celtic family in Scotland, please take care of him,” Yatao Tsuchi has tweeted this morning.

Celtic completed the signing of Japanese Player of the Year Tomoki Iwata from Yokohama F Marinos; the 25-year-old midfielder joins on an initial loan move with a compulsory option to make the deal permanent on a long-term contract; Iwata is Celtic’s sixth J-League signing since 2021 under Ange Postecoglou.

The Celtic manager commented on the latest Celtic signing a few days ago saying, as reported by Sky Sports: “We really are delighted to be bringing Tomoki to Celtic and I am sure he will be a player that our supporters will like.

“He is a versatile player who can operate in defence or in midfield, a really committed footballer with some great attributes. He is at a great age for us where his career is on the right trajectory, but he already has a good level of experience.

“He has just had a brilliant season, he is very deserving of the accolade he has recently received as Japan’s Player of the Year and we are sure he can also bring this real high level of quality to our squad.”

Now Tomoki Iwata is Paradise bound and is likely to be introduced to the Celtic support tomorrow afternoon in the Scottish Premiership match at Celtic Park against Kilmarnock.
