Broadcaster Piers Morgan has questioned how Arsenal got away with paying just £25m to Celtic for Kieran Tierney. The left-back was outstanding in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup.

The Good Morning Britain presenter and well-known Arsenal fan is renowned for his criticism of the Government during this pandemic but he has praised KT for yet another impressive performance down the left hand side.

Arsenal stumped up £25m for Tierney in 2019, enough to let the 23-year-old join The Emirates club. The left-back made over 170 appearances for Celtic, winning five league titles and three League Cups and Scottish Cups during his time whilst enjoying hero status with supporters as being ‘one of us’.

When you consider some of the fees that have been thrown about in recent years – in particularly Arsenal, Tierney will likely be considered a bargain. It isn’t the first time Celtic have been accused of under valuing a player, Virgil Van Dijk joined Southampton for £13m and a few seasons later he became the World’s most expensive defender. Wanyama, Dembele, Armstrong and Forster all fall into a similar category in terms of players that have gone on and proven their worth in another league.

Bolingoli, Hayes, Taylor and Laxalt have all been called upon since Tierney switched Glasgow for London proving that Celtic are still struggling to find a viable replacement for the Scotland Internationalist.
