Postecoglou announcement imminent with new role for Kennedy expected

Ange Postecoglou to Celtic is expected to be announced within 48 hours according to The Sun. The 55-year-old Australian waved goodbye to Yokohama F Marinos and is set to make his way to Scotland where he faces the daunting task of rebuilding after last season’s dismal campaign and reigniting the passion within the support.

The report says that Postecoglou has agreed terms and will head over to the UK from Japan and may even head for Wales, where Celtic will travel for pre-season. The former Australian National Team boss will need to quarantine and this time will likely be used to determine transfer targets and the makeup of his backroom staff.

However, caretaker boss John Kennedy looks set for a role within the new regime as the report says that he and Gavin Strachan will oversee training with Postecoglou still in isolation. The former Celtic defender will also provide knowledge of the Scottish game to Postecoglou as he looks to gear Celtic up for the Champions League qualifiers.

Postecoglou does not have a UEFA Pro Licence, which is required to take charge of top flight fixtures; however, the report states that the club believe that there will be a favourable outcome in their pursuit of dispensation for tha manager that has won titles with three clubs in two different leagues, won the Asia Cup and managed at The World Cup.

Supporters have been waiting on an imminent announcement for some time, especially after the Eddie Howe fiasco. Postecoglou is somewhat of an unknown to a lot of Celtic fans but there is a lot of goodwill towards him back in Australia. He needs to hit the ground running and given the horrid year that Celtic have had on and off the park, there can be no slip-ups in any department. Recruitment needs to be perfect both on and off the field and we need to reverse the slide of the last twelve months in order to regain the title.

Kennedy needs to be punted far, far away from Celtic FC.

He’s been hanging around the place like a fart in a phone box, I wish to God he would grow a set and take his unique brand of (non) defending somewhere else.

You’d think the SFA would give him a job, wasn’t he injured on Scotland duty? Celtic owe this man nothing and he’s bringing nothing to the table at the club except mediocrity.

If Kennedy and Strachan are shoehorned in along with Postecoglou then you can be damn sure that nothing has changed and the mediocrity will continue.

If they want someone with ‘Celtic knowledge’ bring in Shaun Maloney, at least he knows what he’s doing, unlike Kennedy who has proven himself to be useless time and time and time again..

  2. Surly Kennedy And Strachey have not covered the self’s in glory to offer advice to the manager . why not ask Martin O,Neil to be an adviser till January .I,m sure Desmon can ask as a special favour to him and we the fans would holhartedly agree with that no losers in this idea !!
