Former Celtic duo Stuart Armstrong and Kris Ajer have teamed up but not on the football pitch. The Scotland Internationalist is playing at the Genesis Scottish Open in Troon for the pro-am event. However, a familiar face lined up alongside the ex-Dundee United playmaker – Brentford defender Ajer.

A supporter took to Twitter/X to confirm that the Norwegian Internationalist would be caddying as he went around the course as he was ‘in the area’.

Ajer will be due back for pre-season at Brentford shortly whilst Armstrong is without a team having left Southampton earlier this summer.

Celtic have been linked with a move for Armstrong, who was released by Southampton after failing to agree new terms following their promotion to the Premier League. Celtic sold Armstrong in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth in excess of £7m. The departure was inevitable as Armstrong clearly wanted to have a crack at the Premier League.

Armstrong was a top player for Celtic, really kicking on under Brendan Rodgers and helping Celtic towards a Double Treble. After signing alongside Gary Mackay-Steven, Armstrong went onto make 144 appearances for Celtic, scoring 28 times and racking up 25 assists.
