Clyde 1 pundit Gordon Dalziel has claimed that it is time that John Kennedy is offered the Celtic job as it appears the 40-year-old looks set to follow Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham Hotspur. The Australian manager arrived at Celtic with no staff but it appears that he is keen to bring a number of staff from The Scottish Champions with him down to North London.

Kennedy is wanted by Ange to join him at Spurs alongside Gavin Strachan and analyst Greg Wallace. Speaking to Clyde SSB, Dalziel said that he thinks that the Celtic Assitant

“I think John Kennedy will join Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham by the end of the week, once everything is sorted. I think it is a massive loss if they let him walk out the door.

“It wasn’t that long ago that he and Gavin Strachan come in for a lot of criticism from Celtic supporters. John Kennedy, such a part of Celtic for 20-odd years, he has worked under the last four or five managers and everyone speaks so highly of him.

“The question I have got to ask is, me personally, I thought it was John Kennedy’s time. I think he has been at the club, a massive part of it, must be very good at his job because Ange Postecoglou came to Celtic with no staff and the first guy he wants to take is John Kennedy. Surely John Kennedy must have been in the thoughts of the Celtic board for giving him a go at being the manager of that football club?”

Kennedy is highly-rated by players and coaches that have worked with him but he has often come in for some unfair criticism from the supporters. Given the variety of roles that Kennedy has worked in at the club, it is expected that the manager’s job would be the next step for the manager. However, at 40, he will be keen to get himself either in the dugout in his own right or move to pastures new, such as Spurs.
