RYAN CHRISTIE scored a spectacular goal for Celtic on Sunday in the Scottish Cup win over Aberdeen. Following another brilliant performance, supporters were rightfully wondering what the contract situation was for the 25-year-old.
Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson has said that the French side OGC Nice will make a £10m bid for Christie, as reported by The Celtic Star last month. Wilson told The Celtic Huddle podcast that he thinks Patrick Vieira’s side will make a bid for the Celtic star in January.
The podcast that featured ex-Celtic favourites Murdo Macleod, Frank McAvennie and Lubo Moravcik discussed the Celtic star and interest from Ligue 1.
“Apparently, they have been keeping tabs on him for quite a while now.
“For me, it would be a huge loss.”
Christie was signed from Inverness CT in 2015 with loan spells at ICT as well as Aberdeen before breaking into the Celtic first team. The failure to capture John McGinn from Hibs as well as Stuart Armstrong’s departure opened up a midfield vacancy for Christie that he seized with both hands.
The semi-final win over Hearts at Murrayfield announced Christie as a Celtic player. He scored, assisted and won a penalty as the club sealed their place in the final. Christie went from strength to strength and signed a three year deal in November 2019 but his best form came under Neil Lennon last season.
