MICHAEL STEWART has said that he wouldn’t be surprised if Celtic were already working on a Celtic Park return for English goalkeeper Fraser Forster. The BBC pundit and occasional Celtic TV guest took to Twitter after another defeat stretched Celtic’s dismal run to just two wins in eleven matches.
The former Hibs & Hearts midfielder says that a return for Forster would be a start to rectifying what has been a forgettable period for the club as they exited both the Europa League and the Betfred Cup as well as being eleven points behind Rangers in the league.
It takes a long time and lots of hard work to develop and put the fear factor in opponents. Celtic have lost that now and it’s not going to be a quick fix to get it back.

Forster is second choice behind Alex McCarthy at Southampton and is yet to play any football this season but the £90k-a-week contract that he is on will surely keep him company. Celtic have, meanwhile, struggled without the commanding presence of Forster. Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain have failed to fill the void left by Craig Gordon and Forster between the sticks and Celtic have suffered as a result.
One sticking point for Celtic could be that Saints other goalie, Angus Gunn, is on loan with Stoke City and has been impressing. Although, with Forster’s colossal wages, they may still be keen on getting him out the door and use Harry Lewis as McCarthy’s back up. Celtic had hoped to entice him back but no deal was agreed meaning Lennon had to consider other options but what will have annoyed the club is that Forster’s indecision lead to Gordon’s departure as no deal was agreed with the Scottish keeper either.
