What did the ultras expect Brendan Rodgers to say?…
Brendan Rodgers yesterday was asked his opinion regarding the current situation surrounding pyrotechnics after the club was hit with yet another fine, and the supporters also facing the prospect of being locked out of an away trip if they fall foul of UEFA any time soon by setting of pyros at Champions League matches.
Supporters don’t need pyrotechnics to show great support
Brendan said that the supporters don’t need pyrotechnics to show great support. Brendan also said that the supporters back the club superbly and he doesn’t want to lose that backing, or see supporters losing out just because of certain individuals. Something that isn’t really that damning or wrong. In fact he is 100% correct.
His comment about saying you don’t really care about the club if you put fellow supporters at risked being banned was a bit controversial, but in the main his opinion can’t really be criticised by any supporter including the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic who tend to be front and centre of this issue it’s very much part of their ultras culture.
Even if you disagree with UEFA’s stance on pyrotechnics, what did you really expect the Celtic manager to say? He’s hardly going to condone actions that are getting the club and the wider Celtic support into trouble is he?
Brendan isn’t toeing any party line or whatever, he’s just saying what any other manager would say in that situation. Disagree with him if you want, but he didn’t anything controversial, in fact he was talking common sense.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
Anyone who brings a firework to a Celtic game must face a lifetime ban. We have reached a point where that’s the only option.
