We need more players to show commitment to the cause, just  like Raldo…

One of the most notable moments to come out of our clash at Easter road on Wednesday night was the sheer determination of Tony Ralston in winning the ball in a 50/50 challenge, or perhaps more accurately a 30/70 challenge.   It wasn’t just a well timed tackle that stopped another potential Hibs counterattack, it was the start of the move that led to the penalty kick that won us the three points.

Ralston showed great heart and commitment, not to mention pure precision to win the ball. Tony might not be the most technically gifted footballer at the club, but he wears his heart on his sleeve, he always gives 100%, never moans when he’s not selected, doesn’t sulk and Wednesday night proved just how an important a member of this Celtic squad he really is.

We perhaps need more of that level of commitment from the rest of the side. I’m not saying they have downed tools, but they have clearly looked a little lethargic lately. With a title to be won we can’t afford to be half hearted going into games. We need spirt and determination, the entire team needs to be ready to battle for every ball and be strong in every challenge, the way Tony showed at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Hopefully that victory will give the team the boost or was it a kick up the backside they needed going into the next run of games? Anthony Ralston showed real determination and a will to win, let’s hope his teammates took note and follow suit.
