Rangers Chief Executive James Bisgrove has said that his club would not entertain a return to pre-2018 allocations. Celtic and Rangers struck a compromise agreement with regards to away fans with 5% confirmed for the fixture from next season.

In his pre-match programme notes before today’s 3-3 draw, Bisgrove said that the European allocations that have been agreed is the appropriate arrangement for Glasgow Derby matches going forward.

“This week, the SPFL announced that next season Celtic will receive a five per cent European style allocation for the fixture at Ibrox and we shall receive a five per cent allocation of Parkhead.

“We recognise that some supporters will be frustrated and impacted, but we as a club consistently believe away fans should be present at all games. Those who have been disrupted by this will receive priority access to next season’s Old Firm matches and have been contacted directly by the club.

“Let me also be clear that this board will never entertain a return to the full Broomloan away allocation and believe the European allocations appropriate.”

There were no Celtic fans at Ibrox this afternoon and there will be none at the remaining game at Celtic Park; however, next season, there will be around 2,500 away fans in attendance for the games. The days of teams having only a home crowd at Ibrox have ended for Rangers and, despite their wild celebrations at full time, Brendan Rodgers’ side remain top by one point with Rangers having a game in hand and having to come to Celtic Park.
