Celtic face Austria side Rapid Vienna this evening as the pre-season preparations continue. Ange Postecoglou’s side recorded an impressive 7-0 on Wednesday against Wiener Vikoria. The focus shifts to the side, who Celtic share some history with. It is a pre-season friendly but given the events of 1984, it is a game that we will want to win.
Team News
In goals, English shot-stopper and Celtic No.1 Joe Hart starts. In defence, Osaze Urhoghide will be looking to impress at right-back. He is joined by Alexander Bernabei at left-back with the central defensive pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Stephen Welsh. It will be the USA Internationalist’s first start since agreeing to a permanent deal.
In midfield, captain Callum McGregor makes his first start this pre-season. He is joined by Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate. You would expect that this would be a strong midfield three that the manager will want to call upon as the season begins.
In attack, Jota starts on the right – his first start since agreeing to a permanent move himself. The Portuguese star is joined by Maeda on the left and Giorgos Giakoumakis through the middle.
