Reaction – “All the best in your new adventure” as “Bullied” Jack Hendry, signs for KV Oostende

JACK HENDRY this evening completed the season long loan deal with Belgian side KV Oostende.

The big centre half was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Dundee at the start of 2018 and was given plenty of game-time under our former manager, but never really established himself in the side.

He has not been part of Neil Lennon’s plans and was loaned out to Melbourne City in this year’s transfer window. After making an impressive start down under Hendry suffered a long term knee injury and returned to Scotland after undergoing rehab work in Australia.

Hendry is doing the right thing in using the remaining time on his relatively lucrative contract at Celtic – where he has no future – to broaden his horizons and try to find a club which suits him better than the Celtic pressure pot.

Dejection in Athens and Jack Hendry and Rodgers as Celtic exit the champions League

It wasn’t his fault that a manager – with very poor judgement in these matters as it turned out – thought him good enough to play for Celtic. Decisions like the signing of Hendry – and several others – soiled the relationship between Rodgers and the Celtic CEO Peter Lawwell and eventually led to the mid-night flit in late February 2019 to Leicester.

Hopefully Hendry can stay injury free and enjoy a successful season at KV Oostende. We certainly wish him all the best!

Here’s some of the comments to the news as it broke on social media…

“Best of luck Jack. Think there was a player in there but the pressure of playing for Celtic coupled with a lot of idiots in our support bullying him seems to have held back his development.”

“Good luck Jack. I hope it works out for you and you stay injury free.”

“All the best in your new adventure” and so say all of us!

Hendry’s departure means that there has been TEN departures in and around the first team since the season ended. Quite a turnaround and it certainly leaves room for new recruits on the day that the transfer window officially opens.
