Celtic fans have been reacting to a fitness video posted this morning by former Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic, which includes the message “Stay focused, stay positive and your time will come. Nothing happens without reason.”
Last week I suggested that as he was still a free agent Jozo could do a job for Neil Lennon on a short term deal until the end of the season and suggested that given the way that things have panned out for Celtic defensively then letting the likes of Jozo, Craig Gordon and Jonny Hayes leave at the end of last season was a mistake.
The Craig Gordon one will likely play itself out at the Scottish Cup Final with Celtic having to decide if Barkas or Bain is in goals for the holders.
Over the past month, would anyone argue that these three would not have been better options that these currently playing in goals or in the leaky Celtic Sieve? In the same article I mentioned that Elhamed had personal issues re his family going back to Israel and stated again that Jeremie Frimpong is NOT a right back – the only viable option at the club right now is Anthony Ralston – or play Ajer there after bringing back Jozo!
The Elhamed story is in the papers today and it looks like he’ll be leaving in January and there are also stories linking Frimpong with a move away from Celtic with Southampton sniffing around. Regardless, Celtic need to sign a right back in January and that means a DEFENDER not another winger.
Here’s Jozo’s video followed by some reaction to it on social media…

“Bring him home, Celtic”…”Miss you wearing the Hoops, big man. Good luck finding a club that knows your worth”…”Come back big man”…”What ever they said, what ever they did, they didn’t mean it, we just want our Jozo back for good”…”C’mon back Jozo”…”Mans even got Celtic shorts on. Celtic bring him home”…”Lawwell will be sending his Police Scotland henchmen round to repossess them as we speak”…”Another former Celtic player who should NOT have been allowed to go. Replaced by inferior players IMO”…”Come back to celtic please”…”Could use you just now man. Defence is horrific atm”…”Six month contract on the table. Get yer bags packed”…”Come home Jozo. This was biggest shock to me letting this boy go total madness”…
Sadly for these supporters it looks like Jozo will be heading to Turkey to resume his playing career. Earlier this week Daily Record reported that the former Celtic defender is close to agreeing a move to join Turkish side Goztepe.
