Recruitment duo should spark mass clear out at Celtic

Some good news was announced yesterday when it was revealed that Mark Lawwell had resigned from his post as head of recruitment with chief scout Joe Dudgeon following him out the door.

By resigning they took the choice themselves, but you can’t help think they were pushed in that direction. If so it means that the board are feeling the heat from our displeasure and that Lawwell junior and Dudgeon were the victims in a show of force. Although The cynic in me would suggest that with season ticket renewals just around the corner it’s nothing more than a smokescreen.

But they mustn’t underestimate our intelligence because if they think the removal of two men who were incompetent at their job is going to make us suddenly forget all their previous failings, then they can think again.

Lawwell and Dudgeon should just be the start of a mass exodus. Both while guilty of failing to deliver their brief – bring signings to the club that met the threshold of quality.

The ones at the top should also be shown no mercy and follow the two of them out the door. We need a change of structure and while it’s a positive move getting rid of those in charge of recruitment, we need to further wield the axe. Hopefully Michael Nicholson has recognised this and is making moves in the background to help fulfil his ambition of making Celtic world class in every area.

While binning Lawwell and Dudgeon will buy those in charge some time, it won’t have erased their failings from the minds of the Celtic supporters. It’s a good start, but we demand and expect more changes.

Hopefully beat Hearts and then find Lawwell Sn . has got “Gardening Leave “ – for ever

  2. Can’t see a total change in structure within the board room from the powers to be imo?
Given up on that outlook ever happening any time soon, especially now with PL back officially and his feet still well under the table of power within the club?
A change in personal upon the recruitment side is a welcome change in the making, yet remains unclear as to who will be the decision makers in that area for ourselves still?
Can’t see the structure of the playing squad changing to much either from the 433 that’s been in operation for the best part of 3 seasons now, even if we still haven’t reached the 25 man mark, that’s a requirement for squad depth within todays game?
Weather Rodgers remains as the shot caller as manager remains to be seen?
Regardless, still believe that the structure of the squad is taking shape now, even if the consistency of playing levels have been way to patchy for my liking to date this season?
Of course that could all change tomorrow and a strong end to the season, and winning another double, and the feelings within the club, follow suit also?
Still player’s will be required for next season, but the bulk of them could well be already in place, as long as we can keep hold of many key players within our current squad imo?
Still remain way to overloaded with players who won’t feature in Rodgers plans or any manager as things stand within the playing squad?
Always an ongoing situation within our club, but needs to be tidy up far better than it currently is also imo?
The whole process has taken far longer than I expected under Rodgers, even if the structure has been improved upon squad depth, to where we were a year ago, even if not completed by any means yet either?
The key for ourselves still remains as to finding the consistency levels that’s required, as still believe we have enough quality within the squad to secure this title?
Increase the consistency levels and we can start to look like a CL team again, as that’s been totally missing for last chunks of this season to date imo?
Still blame Rodgers moreso than anyone else, but certainly has time now to redeem himself with a strong and successful end to the season?
Nothing to suggest that it can’t be achieved, even if I remain sceptical upon the decision making of Rodgers still?
We have seen glimpses of what our team are capable of producing, just want it on a far more regular basis?
Of course we should be in a better position within the club than we currently are, but at the same time I don’t believe that we are in such a bad position that way to many, including within our own support have been trying to make out either imo?
We will get the answers come the end of the season, and hopefully we can build upon the position of the best in Scottish football in a better manner that that of the way we conducted ourselves this season to date?
