Change is needed, and it’s needed now starting with recruitment…

It’s no secret that we need a change of direction at the top. It’s been common knowledge for many months. We have too many bodies in positions of power who have their feet firmly placed under the table. It’s quickly becoming a place where its jobs for their boys, that sort of environment. The place is crammed full of dinosaurs who have no vision for the club and are only interested in what they can take.

That isn’t an overreaction, yes we have enjoyed our fair share of success over the years, but they don’t seem to want to push on from there and achieve even more success. It seems our aim is to stay completely static. It’s seemingly the Celtic way and has been for many a year now.

Our recruitment policy is an example of that. We have money in the bank, plenty of money, but those in charge seem reluctant to spend it, and when they do it’s used on mediocrity. On Saturday we started with Tony Ralston, Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales in the back four. Two of whom are of course products of the youth academy and the other costing £500k  from Shamrock Rovers.

While on the bench we had Maik Nawrocki who cost around £3-4 million in the summer, while Gustaf Lagerbielke who was also brought in at a cost of around £3 million and he’s not even considered good enough for a place in the Brendan’s squad and was left sitting in the main stand (below) behind Peter Lawwell and Michael Nicholson.

Nicolas Kuhn our £3 million January signing started on the bench as did summer signing Yang. Adam Idah of course started but he’s only on loan without an option to sign and other that two well struck penalties against Hibs, he’s not had a sniff at a goal yet.

That is not good enough for a club of our stature. It’s clear incompetence and shows that more than one person is failing to do their job properly. It’s Gross misconduct, well it would be in most other workplaces up and down the country. It need’s rectifying and that means removing everyone in the scouting and recruitment department. We need to start from scratch and construct an entire new department in that area.

Preferably folk who are competent and know what they are doing. It’s also important they have no connection to the club or anyone running the club. We need fresh faces and ideas in almost every area of the club starting with scouting and recruitment, which is the most important factor if we want to continue enjoying the success we’ve been so used to these past years.

This photo below from June 2023, shows Brendan Rodgers applauding the supporters who turned up at Celtic Park to welcome him back to the club. The incoming, returning Celtic manager promised them that we’d back on The Celtic Way in May 2024 celebrating a title win.  Just a reminder that we haven’t forgotten about that promise.
