HERE is a quick update on season ticket sales. The Celtic Star Editor has been keeping us up to date with accurate information from an informed source at Celtic Park and has told us that when the Rangers were boasting of selling 30,000 season tickets, Celtic were at least at that number if not ahead at the time. Then earlier this week when our noisy neighbours were shouting their mouths off about selling 40,000 season tickets, Celtic were already ahead of them and heading for a complete sell-out.
“As usual they’re behind us,” the source told The Celtic Star.
And when the news that there were now 17,000 names on the waiting list broke, it become abundantly clear that any tickets that are not going to be renewed this time around will to be snapped up very quickly indeed at the start of next week. Tuesday is the deadline and as of yesterday, our Editor has been told by his Celtic source that over 46,000 tickets renewals have now been processed with several thousand applications still to be fully processed.
On Season ticket renewals, the Celtic source said that they are “still going well, I reckon we’ll get to 50k by Monday.”
And there’s usually a last minute rush ahead of the deadline – so it looks certain that the Celtic support are going to stand with the club and sell-out season tickets in the biggest stadium in the Scottish Premiership yet again!
So that’s the news on that one. Another story that was doing the rounds on social media was that Celtic were pushing forward with plans to redevelop the Main Stand and were set to add a top tier to complete the stadium and in crease capacity to 80,000. This though is NOT on the cards, with our Celtic source saying that there was ‘no chance’ of that happening anytime soon.
Celtic have over 17-20k in our waiting list. Main Stand expansion has been moved up from 10-year strategic planning to 5 years. 80k with a drive into the stadium coach entrance for CL finals. https://t.co/4nNsgT4UBt pic.twitter.com/Zt2JoBhY6i

Our source killed this rumour stone dead: “On the increased capacity, no chance of that happening, especially not now.”
It would be an absolutely amazing arena, with 80,000 supporters packed in there. But although it’s a nice thought, it just isn’t going to happen anytime soon.
