Report: Celtic agree £8.5m fee to sign Adam Idah from Norwich

Celtic have agreed a fee with Norwich City to bring Adam Idah back to the club. The 23-year-old is in his way back to Glasgow for a medical ahead of signing a long term deal with the Scottish Champions.

As reported by Football Scotland, the fee being reported is a whopping £8.5m plus a fifteen percent sell-on fee.

Football Scotland’s Mark Hendry has been relatively all over this deal and he commented in social media that Norwich felt they had more than anticipated in the negotiations.

There are also reportedly £1m in performance related add-ons included in the deal, which could push the deal to £9.5m. It is a sizeable investment from the club but it reflects the manager’s wishes.

Idah scored 9 goals and assisted 2 times during 19 appearances last season that helped the club to a Double. Brendan wants the player and it’ll be a step in the right direction.

Once the No.9 is announced again, Celtic fans will hope that the club’s transfer activity increases. There has been little by way of rumours, which is only leading to anxiety that business isn’t being done until the last minute.

It’s far too much money for such a young player. Celtic should have spent that money on a more proven goal scorer becuase no one knows anything about Idah’s consitency. At any rate, that brings Celtic back to where they were at the end of last season. Now they need to spend reasonable amounts on those quality players Brendan has been on about and make sure they don’t sell O’Riley. Selling him will be disastrous for the team.

Far too much money for him, in my view, so it’s fingers crossed. The transfer window has been, yet again, bitterly disappointing and, even if he does come back, we’re no further forward than last year, in fact we are weaker, with those who have left and will leave, by the end of the month. The Huns and Hearts have signed about 10 players each and you would think they won’t all be shite. After the euphoria of last season, I feel very concerned.

  4. we should have just signed Miovski (though 6mil from Girona is still a lot)…looking at the English Prem, even “average” players are costing a lot now
